A. Blaine Finley

Blaine Finley’s practice focuses on plaintiff-side class action litigation. Mr. Finley has been extremely active in prosecuting a variety of actions alleging price-fixing and related horizontal conduct across a variety of markets, including as court-appointed lead, liaison, and settlement counsel. Mr. Finley’s experience includes appearances in numerous federal court hearings and substantial deposition practice, including taking and defending expert witness depositions. His prior representations include the following matters:

  • In re Packaged Seafood Products Antitrust Litigation, MDL 2670, in which Mr. Finley served as lead counsel on behalf of a class of commercial food preparers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the market for packaged tuna products. The Court issued an order granting class certification, which was affirmed en banc by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals;
  • In re Pork Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 18-01776, in which Mr. Finley served as co-lead and liaison counsel on behalf of a putative class of commercial and institutional indirect purchasers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the market for pork products;
  • In re Turkey Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 20-02295, in which Mr. Finley was appointed co-settlement counsel in representing a putative class of commercial and institutional indirect purchasers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the market for turkey products;
  • In re Cattle and Beef Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 20-cv-01414, in which Mr. Finley served as co-lead and liaison counsel on behalf of a putative class of commercial and institutional indirect purchasers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the markets for cattle and beef products;
  • In re Fragrance Products Indirect Purchaser Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 23-03249, in which Mr. Finley was appointed co-lead counsel on behalf of a putative class of commercial and institutional indirect purchasers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the market for fragrance products; and
  • In re Farm-Raised Salmon and Salmon Products Litigation, Case Nos. 20-21463, 20-21509, in which Mr. Finley assisted in representing a putative class of indirect purchasers in a lawsuit alleging the existence of a price-fixing conspiracy in the market for farm-raised salmon.

Mr. Finley received the award for Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice from the American Antitrust Institute in connection with his work in In re Packaged Seafood Products Antitrust Litigation in generating a widely-cited opinion clarifying the standard for granting of class certification in antitrust matters. 

Prior to Blaine’s work in antitrust, his practice focused on plaintiff-side securities class action and shareholder litigation.
